Description

What is it?

The MUSICMOTION HACKLAB is an open laboratory where creators collaboratively design technological art installations and digital lutherie instruments during a sprint weekend. The hackathon will bring together creative developers, designers, musicians and product visionaries in a satellite event of MUTEK festival 20th anniversary edition.

MUSICMOTION HACKLAB is an complete weekend event designed to find new ways to reinvent and reorganize the fusion of art and technology where participants will be able to use a variety of software and hardware, while being supported by skilled mentor artists.

Our goals

  • Provide a space, resources and tools to creators in order to build a very creative and engaging interactive art installation as well as new music instruments

  • Strengthen the art & technology community

  • Democratize art, music and new technologies

Overview

  • 48h hackathon (Friday 6pm to Sunday 22h)

  • 8 - 10 teams (come alone or bring your friends)

  • 8 professionals mentors (maker, ux, visual artist, music artist, developer)

  • 6  judges

  • Creative toolbox: a set of tools (software and hardware) available to the hack creators

  • All teams will have to produce an interactive and audiovisual prototype :  AV installation or Digital lutherie & New musical interfaces

Demo Day

At the end of the MUSICMOTION HACKLAB, teams will perform on stage to present their new music instruments or showcase their AV installation to let the audience and judges to experiment with their prototypes. Demo day is open to public.

Prizes

Winning teams will have the opportunity to present their work during MUTEK Digi Lab. All selected participants will have 25% discount for any of these 3 tickets:

MUTEK Festival + IMG Forum Passeport, IMG Passeport, IMG Conference.

Two winning teams will be selected to perform an artistic residency at LIVART under the supervision of two expert mentors.

CREATIVE TOOLBOX

Our team and our collaborators will provide to creators a variety of software and hardware to conceive and hack. We encourage participants to bring their own tools ;). Here is a non-exhaustive list of the tools that we will provide :

MUSICMOTION HACKLAB will be held at the Notman House, a technology hub that provides offices, events, and community spaces for startups, artists, technology partners, and community groups, bringing together businesses and community builders.
